First off, my weekend starting from Friday evening was awesome.

drhoz came over to gaming and ran an Earth's Dreamlands CoC one nighter game for us, and it was most enjoyable. He must do an amazing amount of research, because I was really transported. 3 people didn't turn up, which was a shame, but we all had a good time. We must do this again sometime. It was the 1920's and it was Hollywood. And CoC. It was awesome.

So then came Saturday, and off we went to the W.A Boardgaming Association (Eurogames) and were really chuffed to see [info - personal]ratfan  amongst the on time arrivals (we were late). We quickly melted her brain with Gnostica, which apparently had no effect, as she won very neatly and then after that we played Citadels which I romped home in.

After that I was seduced into a game of Aladdin's Dragons, and although I was toasted, I didn't mind. I've always wanted to play it, and it's a fun, challenging game full of elements that would normally put me off a game, but with this it all comes together. Pity that it's out of print. If anyone has a copy they want to sell, let me know.

Anyrate, we swung around to  Wagamama's on the way through Subiaco on our way to Poss's. When you ask for gluten free options, they hand you an alternative menu, it was really good!

So we rocked up to Poss's bearing yummy food, and proceeded to stuff our way through Mission Impossible.

Poss cooked some delicious gluten free chocky mud cake, and we ended off on a Cinematic Titanic...er....House of Blood? I think it was called.

Sunday Rob and I drove to Pinjarra, to check out possibilities for our November trip down the river. They proved to be rather limited. Either we drive down, stay overnight at the motel with mum, and she drives us and the boats to the boat ramp. This is not unreasonable.

Or we drive down, Mum drops us of at the boat ramp early in the morning, and then waves us goodbye and goes off and does her own thing.

Or we drive down and stay in the 4 and a half star B&B which is on the correct side of the weir and has a jetty of its own. However as we'll be in travel mode we will definitely lower the tone of the place. Plus it's about 350AUD a night to stay there, which, I dunno, if I just want to bunk down there to spend the night before I set off on the river early in the morning doesn't really do it for me.

So we'll think about that.

But we had a nice picnic with cheese and crackers and apples, down by the river, and itched and ached to be peddaddling in there right that very minute. A bit difficult without the boats, so after a while we drove back to Perth and popped into Steveg's. Rob was helping him with his Linux setup...

I mooched about a bit, and then went out to look at the mistletoe that they said was attracting a mistletoe bird. And, as if on cue, there it was. The first (and only other time) I've seen this bird it was a male, but from this one's markings it does look like a female. Very pretty. Rob tried to take a photo, but mistletoe birds are the ultimate LBJ's. (little Brown Jobs) and I don't think he was happy with his results.

We came home by way of Bell's because we haven't had it since Rob was diagnosed. It was delicious!

Watched Einstein and read Hat Full of Sky until it was past time to sleep.

And that's it.

Oh, and are you lot going to let stephbg go unchallenged Drabble wise? She won last competition, at least make her fight for it!
See here for details. You've got just three days to find out!

Today I caught the public transport into Perth, and went to see the Citizen's Advice Bureau, where Mum met me. They took us through the probate process, printed me off a form, toddled me over to the JP and waved me off to the Supreme Court probate office. They made the process remarkably pain free, and I would urge anyone who needs to do this (it's basically what happens if you need to lodge a will where the deceased's bank accounts are in their sole name) to let them help. It costs 25AUD for a probate specialist to go through the online form with you and it makes it so much easier and less stressful.

Having dropped it off at the Supreme Court Probate Office around the corner, having also had the pleasant surprise that the cost of lodging a will of that sized assets has dropped by about 500 or so dollars, Mum and I mooched around Borders, and Mum bought a book by Barrack Obama about his father, which I read a couple of chapters of on the way home, and after Mum left to pick up her car, I had a look through Tactics - no Aladdin's Dragons, alas and then had a very pleasant gluten free lunch at the Granary.

Caught the bus/train home and here I am, making this entry and intending to cook a miniroast tonight for dinner.

I'm seriously tempted to - that's a great drabble.
