Hello all, just back from the blood bank.

So, yep, my past two donates haven't been that successful, for it seems my body has recently decided that it likes to hang on to my plasma, and doesn't want to willy-nilly just give it away to anybody.

This donate went really well. I suspect that as the weather has turned colder, I'm not drinking as much and being a bit low on the fluids. So yesterday and today I made a point of making myself drink a lot, and I think that's helped loads. Or I just got lucky with the person doing the puncture, my veins are part of the we don't want a bar of donating conspiracy, they might have been more practised with veins like mine.

Last week I got out the metallic pencils and black paper and had a ball with them. I have some nice drawings to put up, a dragon and a mermaid and a centauress - in a very un-me almost abstract style, but I'm a bit preoccupied to do that at the moment as pedanther,  having won the last Flash Fic Drabble whatsit needs to have his postcard done, so I'm in the midst of doing this. You'll see it once he's received it, and the metallic stuff before that so you've got that to look forward to.

Thursday night we went out to dinner with Rob's sister Anne at the Punjab. The Vindaloo was so hot I couldn't finish it, but they were happy to doggy bag it for me. More on that later this post.

As I was doing the Woot shirt (which I'm pleased to say has so far garnered 5 whole votes so far. *ahem*) contest my sister unexpectedly turned up on the doorstep from Kalgoorlie - and after we had lunch at Nando's she sat with me in the lounge as I worked on the design and played Frozen Bubbles on my Eee.

Mum blew back in from the wilds of public transport in Parmelia, and Rob and I fetched pizza for them and ourselves (gluten free pizza for us, yay for Trigg Pizza!) and rocked off to gaming and an interesting session in which we learn more about the interesting Miss Adler.

My character has a new skill and is looking for targets. Naturally this turned out to be a combat free session, so Fen is looking to pick a fight really soon.

We came back home and tiptoed around so as to not wake my sister in the loungeroom. When we awoke and arose, lo! Both Mum and Sister had driven off to Kalgoorlie, with a note saying Mum would be catching the train back on Sunday night.

So we fixed the gutters, I cooked chicken biryani and did some general tidying and washing up.
Rob did a bit of work on the boats, rigging up our new outriggers, and doing some sail settyuppy stuff involving fairleads. And navigation lights.

Then we wandered over to Booragoon, to visit Alternative Bites, and we lost 2D sanity trying to park. Managed it finally, and wended our way to Poss, and settled in for a good night's viewing. My favourite was Avon's spit-take when he hears Villa is up against Deep Roy. Although an almost comedic SAAB was a nice change. I mean, only one person we cared about died pointlessly!

Poss made fajitas accompanied by an amazing multiple layered dip. This had lime juice, red kidney beans, yoghurt, avocado, cheese, olives and capsicum as well as other things.

This was great on two levels. We all have cravings for certain foods. I quite frequently crave tacos, for some reason. All well and good. Rob craves fajitas - we never have really got the opportunity to eat them much for no good reason - and now that it's been discovered that Rob's a coeliac he thought he'd never be able to have them again. But there they were, gluten free wraps and all and his good friend Poss was just dishing them up in front of him. He was a very happy Rob that night.

The second reason was that Poss had made lots of tasty dip, and gave us some to take home. This meant that we had lovely, beautiful COOLING dip to have with my red hot vindaloo the next day. It worked really well and made it edible. Thanks Poss, it was yummy!

Sunday Rob mixed up some BoatCote epoxy and we started painting the new wooden chook tractor. We visited Bunnings and the shops, had the yummy lunch and cleaned up, and cooked some delicious chocolate mud cake and some delicious fruit cake, using mead instead of brandy. Then we flaked out playing KoL and chatting to ariaflame, and then went to pick up Mum from East Perth.

Today I cleaned up a bit and then worked on the postcard to pedanther.

Came home from the blood bank and heated the briyani and served up, ate and made this entry.

rdm has a headache, so be nice to him.

I'm glad the frajitas and dip turned out well. I substituted cumin for chili in the dip - you know how wussy I am when it comes to the hot stuff.

8-)
