"As reported on the ABC, the Federal Government has reached a deal with the various mobile carriers in Australia allowing calls to Lifeline, the suicide prevention and mental health crisis support service.
I do not often have good things to say about politicians, but on this occasion I would like to thank the Mental Health Minister, Mark Butler, and all the dedicated public servants in his department who worked hard to put this together. I would also like to thank the mobile carriers for agreeing to help out with the deal - yes, the government will be paying them for the service, but I am certain that they could have made it a lot more difficult.
